K.C. May grew up in the midwest and Hawaii, attended University of Colorado in Boulder and graduated with a B.A. in Russian from Florida State University ("Go Noles!"). In 1985, she moved to Taiwan where she taught English and studied Mandarin Chinese. Now living in Arizona with a rottweiler named Felony and a cat named Diego de la Vega, she works as a software engineer for a large software company. When she's not working on her next novel, she's reading or riding her motorcycle, Bullet, around the southwest. The Kinshield Legacy is her first published novel.
